How do I purchase from Gallery Samara Art Shop?

Initially prices are set by the artists themselves, with assistance from galleries and dealers representing their work.

What is included into price which I see on your site?

The price of the artwork itself, the price of frame (if the artwork is framed). The charges on shipping, legal and customs registration and insurance are added at purchase. By the way, if you buy from us in Samara, you have to pay only cost of an artwork.

Why are your prices sometimes low? Does that mean that you offer works by inexperienced or student artists?

All artists presented in our store have been drawing for years; most of them have a long exhibition history. It may be difficult to explain why it is quite possible to buy an authentic 40"x30" oil for $500 or even less. That's Russia.

What about artwork availability?

As most Internet art stores, we don't keep art (which is artists' and galleries' property) in our stock. However, we keep track on art pieces availability all the time and update information on the site appropriately. Sometimes, if the particular work is not available for immediate delivery (e.g. it can be on a show), shipment may be delayed for 2-3 weeks. In rare occasions it may happen that you decide to purchase the work that has become unavailable before we got to update the information on it. In any case, you will get all information related to availability by e-mail or fax before your order is shipped. If you want to check item availability before placing the order, write to samartshop@narod.ru with the list of items of your interest.

How will my order be shipped?

All art is sent from Samara, Russia. International shipment partner is selected according to your preference of time and price. Package is selected depending on the medium of the piece of art and its size. For example, small paintings are packaged in flat boxes; larger ones can be safely packed as rolls. Large oil paintings, especially framed ones, are put in large flat packages with a proper conservation.

What if the package arrives damaged?

Refuse reception of the package and immediately inform us on electronic mail samartshop@narod.ru. Your personal trade agent will contact you as soon as possible.

I've received my artwork, but it differs too much from what I see on the screen. Is that possible?

Yes, it is. The computer image that you see on the screen can be different from the original. There are several reasons for that. First, when we make a photo of the painting in our studio, we carefully select the proper lighting to emphasize every particular aspect of its energetic. When you choose where to hang the painting, you create the lighting yourself, and your light can be different from the one we've used. Second, the noticeable visible differences are caused by physically different ways by which you see the image. Computer screen gives you the emitted light; looking at the real picture you always see the reflected light. Image on the screen may sometimes seem richer colored; however it will never give you the idea of the fine structure of the painting.

Can I return artwork if I don't like it?

Yes, you can. If for some reason you decide not to keep art you purchased from us, you may return it within 10 days of receipt. In case of return we refund you the amount you spent minus the charges, really suffered by us. The artwork must be returned in its original condition and its original package to ensure safe shipment. To inform us about art you want to return, write a mail to samartshop@narod.ru. Your trade agent will contact you as soon as possible.

Is your art sold framed?

In most cases no, it isn't. If a particular piece of art is framed, that's clearly stated. If not, assume it not to be framed. Choosing a proper frame for the artwork may be an art form in itself. We'd recommend you to order art as it is, and then choose a frame as soon as you receive the painting.

Can you provide custom framing for me then?

We can provide framing if you want us to. Framing will be an additional cost, of which your art consultant will inform you as you choose the frame you want. However, we'd recommend you to order the frame at your local framing shop that will definitely cost you less and fit your taste better. If you still feel confused, write a mail to samartshop@narod.ru for details.
